Why is sulfur so important for cotton crops?

Sulfur is a fungicide and acaricide, it intervenes in the formation of proteins, vitamins and enzymes, favors the action of nitrogen within the plant, improves vegetation and flower setting, helps the plant to assimilate the different nutrients needed, activates the chlorophyll function and also corrects the pH of the soil. Therefore, it is essential to have elemental sulfur as a corrector.

Thus, if the supply is correct, the increase in production and its durability will be much greater. On the contrary, if there is a deficit of this component, there will begin to be failures in its development, with which we will begin to notice symptoms such as chlorosis, yellowing of the leaves, or the reduction of its size, which implies excessively small capsules.

On the other hand, this type of element(sulfur) for cotton crops is also very useful in terms of the cultivated soil. If the soil is excessively alkaline, i.e., it has a high pH, it will serve as a corrector since, when elemental sulfur is incorporated, it begins to oxidize until it is finally transformed into sulfuric acid, thus lowering the pH.

In addition, if the soil has a high sodium content, the use of sulfur is essential for its release.
